Wichita Area Technical College is a public institution that offers more than 75 programs of study in Healthcare (including nursing), Aviation (including aviation maintenance), Manufacturing, Design, Business, Police Science and Transferable General Education. Degree and certificate options include Associate of Applied Science, Technical Certificate and Certificate of Completion. The college credits earned at WATC are transferrable, many high school students take college credit hours while still in high school. These credit hours are free to Kansas high school students. WATC offers on-line education courses as well as class room instruction.
WATC offers transferable general education courses that are guaranteed by the Kansas Board of Regents to transfer to public colleges and universities in Kansas. General Education courses are available for students who would like to begin their college education with a more personal and affordable option to private schools and state universities.
Aviation Maintenance Technology (Airframe & Powerplant) Program is an 18-month program that meets the requirements for students to take the exam for the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate from the FAA. The certificate authorizes the holder to approve aircraft that has undergone inspection or maintenance “for return to service.” This curriculum is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. Graduates from this program are in demand not only in the field of aviation but in other fields that require a high degree of mechanical knowledge. Located at the National Center for Aviation Training, WATC’s program offers a state-of-the-art facility with instructors offering more than 300 combined years of industry expertise working at Cessna, Boeing, Learjet, Beechcraft, Spirit AeroSystems and other top aerospace companies located in Wichita, KS. Known for decades as the Air Capital of the World, Wichita is one of five global aviation clusters.

WATC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), coordinated by the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) and governed by the Sedgwick County Technical Education and Training Authority Board (SCTETA). WATC operates three different campuses throughout the metropolitan area of Wichita. Its main campus is the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT), located at 4004 N Webb Rd, Wichita, KS 67226.
Wichita Area Technical College's Employer Services Division offers customized training solutions for business and industry in south-central Kansas. Customized business training includes programs in Six Sigma, eMarketing, business training and leadership training. Industry training includes aviation, manufacturing, transportation, environmental health and safety, private security and workforce readiness
WATC strives to provide the highest quality education possible to the students it serves. This is done through developing and offering relevant training and education for students while supporting them throughout their college experience. opportunities to be engaged and empowered. WATC is aware of the importance of implementing measures that will examine each of these areas throughout a student’s association with the college.
Wichita Area Technical College (WATC), in cooperation with local construction companies, has launched short-term training opportunity called the Construction Skills Training program. This pilot project is funded through the Kansas Department of Commerce and partner companies. It connects economic and workforce development under the new Workforce AID (Aligned with Industry Demand) initiative – education linked to a job. WATC will deliver training that includes hands-on experience and introduces skills developed in cooperation with Associated
