Fats, Oils & Grease...
It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
Chances are if you own or operate a food service business or any business that generates fats, oils and grease as a by-product you'll need our services.
Why is Grease a Problem?
Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) in sewer systems are quickly becoming a problem in many cities and towns across Tennessee and South Central Kentucky. A sewer treatment utility can treat thousands of gallons of water from homes versa just one grease trap. As a result, most municipalities will not take it at their facilities. The grease waste must be processed at private processing utilities instead. Improper pumping and "skimming" allow grease and solids to flow through the grease trap and into the sewer. Over time, the grease will build up until the pipe is clogged.
Blockages and the subsequent spills are unsightly, clean-up is difficult, time consuming and costly. Sewage backups in businesses present potential health hazard as raw sewage may carry harmful bacteria, viruses and pathogens.
What Can be Done?
The reduction of grease waste begins at its source. Every food service facility should have a manager or someone in charge of overseeing proper waste disposal. This individual must be able to recognize common practices and modify them so that grease wastes are controlled at the discharge point. By having a sound plan for grease disposal the food service facility operator may save thousands of dollars in reduced maintenance, plumbing costs and fines.
