Opportunity Project, Inc. was founded in 1994 by families whose sons had sustained serious brain injuries.
Their goal was to fill a very significant gap in community services for individuals with brain injury. These families discovered that while excellent acute medical care and rehabilitation services were available, there was an absence of effective transitional and reintegration services within the community.
Their extensive research resulted in the identification of a nationally recognized program the Clubhouse model of community support.
In 1994 Opportunity Project served 5 members. Since then it has served over 500 individuals affected by traumatic brain injury and their families. The demand for this community support and re-integration program continues to grow due to its proven success. Membership is open to anyone over 18 with a brain injury regardless of their ability to pay.
Located in Milburn, N.J., Opportunity Project maintains a 14,000 square foot facility that houses the organizations administrative offices, library, lounge, conference area, kitchen facilities and computer work stations.
