Founded amid the independent small press fervor of the '70s, Porphyrion was the brain child of writer-poet Coral Crosman and her artistic husband, J. Rene Gonzales. The business served first as a vehicle for her poetry and has later come to provide an outlet for fiction. In a culture where publishing is part of the global marketplace, Ms. Crosman, as editor and publisher, continues to believe that the artist's voice does not always rise above the hype of conventional cultural outlook and mores. About Coral Crosman
Ms. Crosman has been writing all her life—attempting to make sense of the world around her, the passing scene, the evanescent moment, the immutable and transient environment in which the pulse of the human spirit persists. She has, to date, written 16 fiction works, including three short story volumes. Porphyrion Press has published five of her books, including most recently, Remembering the Future: Poems of Four Decades, 1957-97 (©2000). This selection/collection culls from earlier works and unpublished poems to showcase in its 407 pages her substantial range and content.
