About PDR-Chemical
PDR-Chemical is an instrument manufacturing company with products focused on HPLC/SFC applications. We have extensive in-house expertise in applying physics, mathematics and chemistry to the development and manufacture of successful scientific instruments, systems, and software. All design and engineering is in-house, including optics and lasers, electronics, and mechanical. All software development is in-house.
The Advanced Laser Polarimeter (ALP) is the undisputed leader in HPLC/SFC polarimetric detection and is used in every major pharmaceutical company. We also offer stand alone Software for automating Method Development and Prep, 10/20 bottle Low Pressure Gradient Mixers, 12/24 position Column Selectors with/without heating and cooling, and Prep Injector Collectors. Our automation bundles, AutoMDS and AutoPrep, include software, hardware,
installation, training, and support. These upgrade bundles can be installed on new or existing HPLC/SFC equipment. Most of our products are patented, unique, and without equivalent.
Gary W. Yanik - President and CEO
Gary Yanik spun-out PDR-Chiral from PDR in 1997 to commercialize products based on various laser polarimeter developments he patented in the early 1990s.
He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of chiral chromatography and provides consulting and laboratory training to pharmaceutical companies around the world.
Gary Yanik obtained a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the University of Michigan (1970). Later he received an Engineering Management degree from California Institute of Technology. His career includes over 35 years of successful product development in a variety of advanced scientific fields. At the University of Michigan he developed instrumentation to accurately measure the g-factor of positrons (anti-particles). At the Hale Observatories he developed photon-counting imaging spectrophotometers and polarimeters for characterizing distant galaxies and the expansion of the Universe. He was Technical Director at Hughes Aircraft and United Technologies (aerospace) where he developed multi-sensor suites for detection and tracking of ballistic missiles (SDI) and laser radar guidance systems for cruise missiles. As the Vice President of Product Development for Thermo Separation Products he developed photodiode array detectors, autosamplers, and HPLC pumps for chemical analysis applications. After leaving Thermo he started Product Development Resources (PDR) and continued developing high-tech products for companies and entrepreneurs. He started the development of the Advanced Laser Polarimeter in 1991 and is responsible for all design and development activities at PDR-Chiral including hardware, software and contract services.
