Lumerica's LED Lighting business dates back to the year 2000, when it was initially named Case Electronics. Case Electronics was established as a contract manufacturer to produce customer specified printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies. From its inception until 2006, Case Electronics designed and manufactured LED taillights, RV interior lights, school bus signs and other LED products for a variety of customers. By 2006, LED lights comprised the majority of Case Electronics' business, and a strategic decision was made to focus on the growing LED light fixture market. The real breakthrough came in 2008, when the company was commissioned to build LED floodlights for Ricoh's solar-powered billboard in New York's Times Square. Innovations from this project have been designed into many products, including parking lot lights, wallpacks, parking garage lights, flood lights, high bays, and low bays. In 2009 the company was renamed LumaSmart, and in 2012, Lumerica acquired LumaSmart's LED light fixture and end-product business.
