Loyola Development Corporation is a 501c3, not-for-profit organization that was established to prevent and eliminate neighborhood deterioration and to promote the general social welfare of the community through the construction, rehabilitation, ownership or operation of housing. We are also designated by the State as a Community and Housing Development Organization.
As its first order of business, Loyola Development was brought in to manage the revitalization of the South End Neighborhood, a seven block area that runs from East Clay to Mill Street and South Main to Mill Street with adjacent blocks from Benedict to South Main and Liberty to Jewelry Streets.
The South End of Waterbury is experiencing devastating conditions due to declining population, extreme poverty, crumbling infrastructure and neighborhood blight. Loyola Development has a vision to stabilize the neighborhood and help to transform the South End into a more healthy and sustainable community to enhance the quality of life for residents of the South End. Our proposed development strategy places emphasis on strengthening existing community assets with a focus on directing development toward meeting the needs of the existing community.
