Logan Biotech is a small technology and innovation driven company. The company was founded in 2005 to perform a proteomic profile on Multiple Sclerosis patients who were taking Beta Interferon as a therapy. This work has been completed. In addition to performing the proteomic profiling Logan Biotech has been involved in Biofuel work. Logan has provided consulting services to companies engaged in making fuel grade ethanol from corn. Logan has provided technical expertise to Biofuel companies who are pursuing Biofuel production from cellulose. However, it became clear that the future of Biofuel production is not with Biomass of any type but with some other source of carbohydrate. Logan conceived of what may be the most practical and inexpensive method yet suggested for the production of inexpensive sugar for the Biofuel industry. This method is known as Lithotrophic Biofuel Production. This method will utilize sugar produced from unique deep-sea bacteria which normally produce sugar to feed the food chain at biology communities at the bottom of the sea around hydrothermal vents. Initial work has demonstrated that this approach is practical as the microbe chosen does in fact produce significant amounts of sugar. It is the desire of Logan Biotech to enhance the sugar production in this microbe and use it for future Biofuel production. This work should allow for the production of at least 50 billion gallons per year of various Biofuels without the need for Biomass.
