The year was 1866. German born immigrant John Kiefner moved to Perryville, Missouri hoping to start his own business. Using the skills and knowledge of woodworking gained serving an apprenticeship in Maryland, John became a success building barns and houses and making and selling furniture and cabinets in the Perryville area. This was the beginning of the Kiefner construction legacy.
Following in his footsteps, John?s son Charles later became a successful builder and retail lumber supplier. Many of the homes and other structures found in and around Perryville today were built by Kiefner Lumber Company.
The original ?Kiefner Brothers? were Charles? sons Edwin and John. Primarily state road and bridge contractors in
the 1930?s and 40?s, they evolved into building contractors in the 1950?s.
Kiefner Brothers was incorporated in 1968 and has since grown to be the premier commercial and institutional builder in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. In October of 1984 the Company moved it's headquarters to1459 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau and has been there since.
Much has changed in the construction business since John Kiefner settled in Missouri.
Four generations have continued in the family business, each gaining experience and knowledge and passing that knowledge down to the next generation.
One thing remains the same. That same commitment to hard work and dedication to quality first brought to this area by John can still be seen today in every project completed by Kiefner Brothers, Inc.
