HBM staff members are familiar with the latest requirements and guidelines of CDOT, IDOT, ISTHA, AASHTO and AREMA. HBM Engineering Group, LLC’s staff is qualified to perform in-depth fracture critical (FCM) inspection and biennial inspections in accordance with the Current Manual of Maintenance Inspection of Bridges (AASHTO), Structure Information and Procedure Manual (IDOT), National Bridge Inspection Standards, Inspection of Fracture Critical Members (FHWA IP-S6-26), and the Guide Specifications for fracture Critical Non-Redundant Steel Bridge Members (AASHTO). The project manager and the inspection teams carrying the Inspection possess the following qualifications:
1. Registered professional and structural engineers (Four inspection team leaders)
2. Completed formal inspection training courses by:
• FHWA-NHI Course No. 130055, Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
• FHWA-NHI Course No. 130053, Bridge Inspection Refresher Course
• FHWA-NHI Course No. 130078, Fracture Critical Techniques for Steel Bridges
3. Bridge load capacity rating, instrumentation and physical testing of bridges.
4. Emergency inspection and emergency repair plans of in-service bridges if required
5. NBIS bridge rating and bridge inspection reports and rating forms by IDOT and CDOT
