ENWYO, LLC, Co-Founded by Dr. Michael Urynowicz, Mr. Rob Garland and Mr. Ryan Waddington is commercializing a process for putting depleted coal seams within the PRB back into production using patented technology (Patent No.: US 7,556,094 and three Patents Pending) developed at the University of Wyoming. ENWYO’s “Methane Farming” CBNG process involves three-steps: (1) biomass production; (2) biomass conversion; and, (3) methane fermentation. Locally grown perennial forage crops such as Switchgrass and Miscanthus are used to supply the lignocellulose which is converted to simple sugars in an aboveground fermentation reactor. The simple sugars are then injected into the coal seam where they are transformed to clean burning natural gas by indigenous microorganisms. The gas is then recovered using the existing CBM infrastructure. ENWYO’s “Methane Farming” CBNG process is extremely innovative and represents a significant paradigm shift to conventional practices within the fossil fuel industry. ENWYO is committed to transforming current scientific advances into practical solutions that add value to the nation’s coal resources helping to keep them viable in the energy economy of the future. The inherent advantages of ENWYO’s “Coal Farming” process include:
• The process produces pipeline quality gas
• Utilizes existing CBM infrastructure resulting in low capital and operating costs
• The process is relatively simple
• Utilizes the coal seam as the reactor (infinitely scalable)
• The process is sustainable
• Utilizes locally available perennial crops
• The process is in-situ
• Generates little to no waste material
