Enter's Liquid Fertilizer of Nicollet began in 1983 when Ivan was asked by NaChurs Plant Food Company to sell fertilizer to his neighbors. The business began in the basement of Ivan and Janine's home.
This arrangement continued until 1987, when NaChur's reorganized and only ten percent of its sales force was offered distributorships. Enter's Liquid Fertilizer was given the exclusive territory of Nicollet and Blue Earth Counties and non-exclusive in Brown, LeSueur, and Sibley Counties.
A bulk station was leased in New Ulm in 1987, and purchased in 1988. When it outgrew the New Ulm facility, Enter's Liquid Fertilizer purchased land in Nicollet from Alan Burg in 1989 and put in a dike and bulk station with 90,000 gallons storage.
The next year, a 30 by 50 foot storage building was completed. It became an office and parts sales area in 1996.
Enter's received NaChurs' award for the fourth fastest growing distributorship in the country in 1996-in spite of Ivan and Janine surviving a head-on car accident.
A major change occurred in 2001 when Nutra-Flo Liquid Fertilizer Company approached Enter's and asked that they become the Nutra-Flo distributor for 35 counties in southern Minnesota. After much consideration, Enter's switched suppliers because they could offer the same high quality product at a lower cost to the producers and NutraFlo offered more support for the distributorship. Currently, Enter's Liquid Fertilizer has expanded its sales territory into South Dakota, North Dakota, and Iowa.
New tanks and containment facility were put in to meet the new state code in 2003. Currently, most fertilizer is sold by semi-lots and delivered directly to the customer, without going through the Nicollet facility. Producers are able to put all their nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, and trace elements down with one pass as they plant.
Over the years, sales and delivery has been handled by Ivan, with part-time help. Don Kaiser joined Enter's in 2005, bringing 25 years of experence in the industry.
Enter's Liquid Fertilizer presently retails a complete line of high quality liquid fertilizer products and trace elements. Wensman Seed, LandOil, Keeton seed firmers, citric acid, hydrogen peroxide, Norwesco tanks and a full line of Blumhardt, AgChem and Teejet liquid handling equipment and parts.
