Gordon Thomas established Eastern Petroleum Services Pte Ltd (EPS) in 1991 to provide consulting and project management services to the Oil & Gas industry in SE Asia.

Over the past two decades EPS has been successful in developing projects in remote areas of SE Asia.

To successfully execute projects in remote areas, it is necessary to think ?outside the box? with respect to logistics. One particular product which has always been a logistical challenge is asphalt. Generally kept at an elevated temperature (120 deg C) from the refinery right through the transportation / distribution system to the end user, asphalt is considered dangerous cargo and often results in damage to both humans and the environment. Nevertheless, so-called ?hot bulk? transport is still the method utilized for distribution of over 100 million tons per annum of asphalt required to build and maintain the world?s infrastructure. The primary reason being that until now there has not been a viable alternative.

In 2005, Gordon Thomas decided to dedicate his personal efforts and resources to producing an alternative method of packing and transporting asphalt in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. The company entered joint ventures with oil majors and is now implementing its innovative technology globally. These technologies are known as BituBale® and BituFilm.

Although the company?s main focus is on the implementation of the BituBale® and BituFilm technologies, its engineering division continues to serve loyal clients.
