Covenant Bank was chartered on December 30, 1997 in Leeds, Alabama to fulfill the special calling of serving the banking and financial needs of citizens and businesses in the communities that it serves. The motivation to open a new bank rose from public interests and concerns of not having local personnel to deal with in local branch offices of regional banks. Banking on a personal level had become practically nonexistent and local decision-making become a practice of the past. The bank's focus, since inception, has been to provide quality products and exemplary personal service. Growth levels have exceeded pre-opening projections and management continues to form strategies that will further define the keys to consistent growth and profitability. The bank's name came up after a prayer session that chairman and founder Hayes Parnell, III had with his pastor. As a Christian, he has relied on God to guide and direct virtually every decision in bringing the bank from inception to its current status. The word covenant means more than a promise to perform. It means commitment, ownership, and support with the clients and communities that the bank serves. The bank's logo is intended to be a symbol of strength and was first sketched from the downward view of praying hands. Parnell's philosophy of leadership through prayer and faith continues to advance Covenant Bank as one of the leading banks in the area.
