Connection Concepts provided technical lead and software development services for Revelwood Inc., to help them develop a Web-enabled financial services application product, "SmartSite®". Revelwood offers financial analysis services based on On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) of multi-dimensional databases. OLAP is typically used by CFOs and their staff for complex financial analysis and planning. Revelwood's clients include Viacom, Seagrams and many other major corporations. Revelwood has won numerous industry awards, including being recognized as one of the "Top 100 Emerging Companies to Watch in the Year 2000" by Computerworld magazine, Deloitte & Touche's 2000 New York Technology Fast 50 & Fast 500 awards, and the INC. 500. SmartSite® is one of the first products that transitions the traditional, stand-alone desk top OLAP application used by a small group to enterprise-wide collaborative analysis using the Web. SmartSite® uses Server-Side Java and RMI (Remote Method Invocation) to offer features including database read and update with unlimited undo capability, complex data and table formatting, context sensitive hyperlinking and load balancing. Further, SmartSite® can be deployed in a distributed environment on all major computer platforms. Connection Concepts' work on SmartSite® was recognized with a Silver Connecticut Innovation Prize. Transportation Asset Management Services Connection Concepts served as technical lead for the development of a railroad asset management system (RAMS-1) with Tie Logistics. RAMS-1 provides Web services to railroads and their customers to help them manage shipments and reservations, track containers and schedule truck pickups and deliveries. The system uses a powerful custom Java applet to provide integrated graphical views (including table, map, ticker and plot) of user data. The system also provides automated mechanisms for data updates and notifying users when resources are no longer within acceptable limits based on user defined thresholds. The system is implemented entirely in Java. The client Java applet communicates with server side Java (IBM Websphere) by transferring objects over a Web (HTTP) connection.Aerospace Parts and Supplier Services Connection Concepts used Java Servlet technology at its inception (Alpha and Beta levels) to create customer and supplier extranet Web sites for Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. The customer site integrates parts and user data and uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) with password protection to provide access controlled on-line ordering with "shopping basket" session persistence. Appropriate session profiles are used based on session context. The supplier site provides current and future order information via an integrated database that is automatically rebuilt when new data is uploaded. The site restricts data access appropriately for each user.
