CollegeSource Founder Harry G. Cooper



CollegeSource, Inc. was incorporated in 2003. The corporation's roots, however, date back to 1971 when Harry G. Cooper, a pioneer in the computer and micrographics industry, founded the not-for-profit National Microfilm Library.



The original product was an annual microfiche collection of U.S. college catalogs and the mission was to save institutions of higher education millions of dollars annually by offering a low-cost alternative to the printing and shipping of paper catalogs. Placing catalogs in one easily-accessible format empowered institutions nation-wide to discontinue the costly practice of storing printed catalogs in campus libraries.



The company later became the Career Guidance Foundation as data storage technology moved away from microfilm. The catalog collection was first distributed on CD-Rom as CollegeSource® in 1994. The digital catalogs were then moved to the Internet in 1996 as the CollegeSource® Online database, accessible by institutions of higher education world-wide. The Catalink® digital catalog service was introduced the same year. In 2006, CollegeSource, Inc. launched its newest service, the Transfer Evaluation System (TES®).



Today, CollegeSource, Inc. remains focused on providing institutions of higher education with smart tools that eliminate inefficient practices and help improve the student experience.



CollegeSource, Inc. is a small but dynamic company with a mission to serve institutions of higher education and the students who use education to become more employable, engaged citizens. Our current focus is college catalog and institution research tools, primarily in the area of transfer credit evaluation. CollegeSource, Inc. is about making the work of researching college catalogs faster, easier, and cheaper. The result is tremendous time savings for administrators and a better experience for transfer students.
