CATLETT FAMILY ARTISAN OILS

The Catlett family has been involved in agriculture production in the Sacramento Valley since Ben and Lily Catlett began farming in the Pleasant Grove area four generations ago. Those of you who have traveled Hwy 99 between Sacramento and Yuba City have probably seen the roads with the family name, which is the area Ben and Lily settled and raised their family. Throughout their history the Catlett family has been, for the most part, involved in rice production. There has also been a few other crops and various agricultural based operations here and there across the generations. The Catlett’s came to Sutter County area in the era shortly after the Great Depression, when Wayne and Cora Catlett settled to raise their family. In 1965 Wayne and Cora Retired to Santa Cruz, California leaving the farm in the hands of their oldest son Allen and Catlett Family Farms was created. A few years later Allen was married to his wife Christine. Together they raised their sons on the family homestead. Growing up they learned about the various aspects and diversity that encompasses the California agricultural community. In 2005 the reigns pasted yet again to their son Jeff Catlett and his wife Jennifer, who formed J and J Catlett Farms. Together they carried the family into a new venture in olive oil production when they planted their trees at the base of the sutter buttes.

Three years later with the first crop ready to harvest, a new venture was born when Catlett Family Artisan Oils was formed by Allen and Christine’s oldest son Jason and his wife Sarah. Catlett Family Artisan Oils is a producer, wholesale distributor and retailer of locally grown, pressed and produced, USDA Certified extra virgin olive oil. Catlett Family Artisan Oils is a spin-off of the Catlett Family Farms name, which is fitting since it represents a farming family with a strong history of providing sustainable produce to consumers, both locally and globally.

Catlett Family Artisan Oils’ flagship products consist of an artisan blended EVOO and a pure varietal EVOO. Both products are locally grown and produced in Northern California and both products are guaranteed 100% pure extra virgin olive oil by the USDA. The initial products will be - Simply Arbequina, which is a pure varietal; and - Artisan’s Blend - which is a blend of three types of olive grown on the family farm - Arbequina, Arbasona and Koroneiki olives. Our olive oils will be grown and produced by a family with over 100 years farming experience in the Sacramento Valley. Each bottle will contain artisan quality extra virgin olive oil that is bottled with the knowledge and values that have been passed down through each generation, not refined and adulterated in processing plants and manufacturing facilities in international countries.
