Dr. Ronnie Blount and his staff offer caring services to the middle Georgia community that address individual needs in a warm and inviting atmosphere.Highly educated and experienced, Dr. Blount received his Masters in Health Science at American University in Washington, DC in 1983 and his Doctorate of Medicine from Howard University in Washington, DC in 1987. He served his internship at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, Harlem Hospital Center from 1987-1988 and received dual residency training at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee -- Department of Internal Medicine (1990-1991) and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (1992-1994).Dr. Blount has been in private practice since 1994 and his clinical experience is extensive. He served as Emergency Medicine Physician at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, Tennessee from 1991-1994; Consulting Psychiatrist at Quality Assurance Psychiatric Consults in Nashville, Tennessee in 1994; as Admitting Psychiatrist at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institution in Nashville from 1992-1994; Medical Director at Another Chance Recovery Center in Nashville from 1992-1994; Medical Director at Deer Valley Youth Residential Treatment Center while serving as Staff Psychiatrist at New Hope Adult and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit, Perry Memorial Hospital in Linden, Tennessee from 1993-1994; Staff Psychiatrist and Medical Director of Outpatient Services from 1995-1997 at Charter Behavioral Health Systems of Central Georgia; as Staff Psychiatrist at the Macon Youth Development Center from 1995-1997 and Clinical Professor at Mercer University from 1995-1999.Dr. Blount has performed research at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC; the National Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland and at the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He has taught for the Board of Education, City of New York; Mercer University and Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Florida.Dr. Blount's practice includes services for job stress, mood disorders, substance abuse, memory loss and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
