ARose Books ( www.arosebooks.com ) originally founded in 2002 as a sole proprietorship by Marcella Parsons, was turned into an LLC in 2011 to include her daughter, Katherine Parsons as a partner. Both Marcella and Katherine have worked on the business since 2002.
Marcella Parsons received her B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA in 1980. She did a year of masters? work in Operations Research at CMU before moving with her family to Los Angeles, CA where she continued to work until 2002 as a software engineer.
Katherine Parsons received an Architect degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA in 2007. She has fifteen years of experience in design and several years experience in web design and development.
In 2009, Marcella and Katherine were awarded a patent for their design of digital book reading technology for seeing impaired people.
ARose Books was founded from Marcella's hobby of collecting vintage books and postcards. From this collection, now public domain books, they have brought to life old titles with new covers and custom illustrations. The vintage postcard images are reprinted onto mugs, posters, cards, clothing and other gift items then sold through ( www.vintage-american.com ). Together, they are building a business that is growing steadily in website traffic and sales both in the books and vintage gift items.
