In December 1989, Chuck Aldrich, Tom Cassidy, and Dave Sodergren started ACS Manufacturing as a multi-slide stamping house. Our 70+ years of combined experience in tool & die, multi-slides, and fastener design and production was soon focused on a new goal: provide the distribution industry with a reliable alternative source for spring steel fasteners.



We designed and implemented a new, economical way to produce single-threaded U- and J-Nuts: instead of using conventional methods, we developed a flexible system of tooling and specially-modified equipment capable of producing an entire line of fasteners. This resulted in significant cost savings, increased productivity, continuous quality improvement, and an ability to clone almost any existing single-thread U- or J-Nut as well as produce virtually an infinite number of custom parts. Together with our in-house control of all facets of CAD drawing, tooling, and manufacturing, we can ensure economical quality products, shorter lead times, and on-time deliveries.



In July 1997, ACS moved into its brand new facility in South Elgin, IL, more than tripling production and warehousing space and giving us room to grow. Spring steel fasteners have become such a large part of our business that we've given this segment its own identity. In October 1999, we proudly introduced the e-qual-fastâ„¢ brand of Formed Spring Steel Fasteners.



Our standard catalog items now total nearly 500 different U- and J-Nuts, 70 U-Clips, 40 Twin Nuts, and 55 Flat Nuts. We also manufacture "design your own" spring steel fasteners, and have tooled over 100 custom "made to print" parts. Production currently totals almost 1½ million fasteners a week.
